AAMA Gold Label Certification

The AAMA Gold Label Certification Program is a performance-based and ANSI-accredited method of verifying performance of window and patio door products. The AAMA label that appears on the majority of residential windows means that a sample of the product was tested and conforms to performance standards for air and water infiltration at the specified pressures, structural integrity, and resistance to forced entry. Manufacturers who use the AAMA label have agreed to two unannounced plant inspections each year to verify that production units match the tested sample. In addition, the label means that major component parts of the window or door assembly have been tested and comply with the applicable performance standards.
Residential ratings begin at R20 and go up to R65. R50 windows can withstand a category 4 hurricane with windspeeds up to 142 mph and wind driven rain speeds up to 55 mph. While this may sound like overkill, Miami-Dade County in Florida requires a minimum R65 for residential windows. Ultra Windows' premium vinyl windows are rated to DP65.
